Any Time – $25

What if you could create the “any named time” effect with nothing more than an ordinary watch? 

Earlier this year, I revisited Bev Bergeron’s classic watch force, published around 1989.  

Today, of course, we have electronic magic watches, and I occasionally use one myself. But revisiting this old principle made me wonder:  How close could I get to the same effect using a completely ungimmicked analog watch?

So I challenged myself.  
The goal was simple: a participant names any time, and an ordinary watch reveals that exact time.  

While experimenting with Bev’s original technique, I discovered an additional core technique that I had never encountered in watch work before. Combining the two allowed me to achieve exactly what I was looking for: 

Any named time. 
An ungimmicked watch. 
100% reliable. 

For the next several months, I tested and refined the method in close-up and impromptu situations until it became something I could comfortably use in performance.  But the method was only the beginning.  I started exploring what else an ordinary watch could become in a mentalism performance. 

One of my favorite presentations now uses the watch to create a personal moment around time, life, and gratitude for the things we often take for granted. 

What began as an attempt to recreate the effect of an electronic magic watch eventually became an exploration of a prop almost all of us already carry. 

No electronics. 
No gimmicked watch. 
Just an ordinary analog watch and a different way of using it.
